College Student Testimonials
"Throughout my life, education has always been at a forefront. In high-school I choose to attend SAS at the Wolfson Campus for my eleventh and twelfth grade year. I knew that I wanted to pursue pharmacy in the future and I felt like a dual enrollment school was the best way to prepare for that. Signing up for college classes, knowing which classes to choose for my major, and educational counseling were all concerns of mine and Mrs. Eugene was always there to help. Ms. Sindy has a friendly demeanor and a great listener. She always had a genuine interest in her student’s success and it showed. I would go to Ms. Sindy frazzled at times with numerous questions with the least idea of where to start. She would calm me down and help answer all my concerns one by one. I am 22 and am almost done with my doctorate in pharmacy. If it wasn't for Ms. Sindy I do not think I would be where I am now. She truly was a joy and I am so thankful for all her help". - Andrea Murzello (School for Advanced Studies) "When I first arrived at MDC I was lost and didn't know what to do or who to go to. When I enter the Student Services building 3 you stepped in helped me get started with my whole college applying application and took me under your wings and mentored me from my freshmen year until I graduated from MDC. Through your mentorship I learned how to become a successful student by staying focus academically and even made the Deans lists that year. Also, you helped me with getting my financial aid every semester and registering for all classes. You helped me find ... Internships in my career of choice. You made sure I understood what it means to be a leader and I will never forget that. With Ms. Sindy's help, I applied for the Disney College Program paid internship in 2008 and was accepted to participate in the spring advantage program. I even took classes on the internship to make sure I still graduated on time. She made sure I stayed focus and concentrated on my goal ... Once I finish MDC I returned to Disney for a Management Internship and was accepted to be a Disney Leader. Thanks to Mrs. Eugene Leadership I was able to show not only my colleagues and peers what I have to provide as a leader but also a fortune 500 company that I can be a Leader. Thank you Ms. Sindy for giving me an opportunity and showing me that I have what it takes to be successful in life. God Bless you!"- Theodore Thomas (College Freshman) "Ms. Sindy is one of the most influential people that I have ever met. I literally had no clue how things worked at Miami Dade College, as I was a newly High School graduate. There were posts about an organization named M.O.O.V.E. (Minorities Overcoming Obstacles through Victorious Education) around the campus and thought I should join the organization. It was then that I met Ms. Sindy and other mentors in the program who taught me to not only manage my classes but also my time and finances. I am currently on my way to becoming an Obstetric physician and the process would definitely not have been as easy as she made it for me. Everyone should get to have either a mentor or someone as caring as her for guidance in College."- Debbie Lucien (College Freshman) "You could tell she loved her job. She was always very helpful in planning my degree/goals. I never felt rushed or non-important. She took her time in getting the job done to the best of her ability and made me feel welcomed. For that, I am extremely grateful and would recommend her for college/career counseling to anyone who needs it. "My first encounter with Ms. Sindy was during my first semester at Miami Dade College. I started the school year with a spirit of happiness yet fear because of experiences I previously dealt with at a previous University, and was not fully motivated in the major i was in until learning some skills with The Student Pathfinder. A lot of students enter colleges either not knowing exactly what it is they would like to pursue in the future, or following what it is their parents want them to be. By the end of the semester my classmates and I without a doubt ,we all had an idea of what we were passionate about doing. Hearing her story number one was motivating because even through the obstacles and struggles she dealt with, she encouraged us that through it all she made it and graduated taking prep classes and all."- College Student "Ms. Sindy was the first academic counselor I had when started dual enrollment. Today, I am in 1st semester student of veterinary school, and I owe it to her. Since the first moment I walked into her office she was very cordial, she answered all my questions and was very helpful. I always knew I wanted to go into veterinary medicine but did not really know what I needed to do or what pre-requisites I needed to take. Ms. Sindy pointed me in the right direction, told me what classes to take to complete my A.A. degree and at the same time be on tract for my pre-vet program. If it had not been for her I would never graduated high school with an Associate in arts degree or had the right classes to start at the University of Florida as a junior in the Animal Science program right after high school. Thanks to her advice and counseling I succeeded in my major graduated early and I am now in my graduate program. Also even now that have graduated we still keep in touch and she is always advising me and sending me positive energy. Ms. Sindy is a great person and anyone would be lucky to have her as an academic advisor." - Jairo Perez (School for Advanced Studies) "Ms. Sindy helped me throughout my high school and college education! It all started when I decided to dual enroll some college level classes at Miami Dade College in the afternoon right after high school. Not only did she guide me about how to enroll myself in the classes, but also on the pertinent entrance exams required for every class. After completing some courses, She recommended me the program “School for Advance Studies” at the Wolfson Campus where I was able to complete most of my undergraduate classes as well as some Advanced Placement courses. She also guided me during the application process for colleges. I do not think it would have been possible, if she was not there for me and my classmates. Her guidance really helped and definitely made the process a lot smoother. I will always be grateful for her patience and dedication all this time, and I want her to know that a piece of my Master in Business Administration and Doctorate in Pharmacy belongs to her. Your guidance and knowledge has been a major factor in my ability to excel educationally and professionally!" - Antonio DeLeon (School for Advanced Studies) "As a young college student I really did not know what my career path was nor did I not have the understanding on how to explore a major that can lead me to a productive career. Freshly out of high school this process became too overwhelmingly for me. This all changed when I met Ms. Sindy. She was constantly |
